Personal Health Information - Notice of Purposes

The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) is a new provincial law that aims to balance your right to have your personal health information protected with the need of those in the health sector to use your information to provide you with appropriate care and treatment.

Privacy Complaints Process

Under PHIA you have the right to make a complaint if you think your personal health information has been used, viewed, or disclosed inappropriately. You can read our Privacy Complaints policy and review the form that needs to be completed to initiate a privacy complaint.

Release of Information

Copies of Health Records may be released to patients, health providers, or other organizations upon completion and approved signatures on request forms available on this site. For more information on requirements to release information, you can phone 1-902-567-7214. Fees may apply according to provincial legislation.
